Though the numbers are unclear (and it would really help to put things in perspective), Sprint said today that it is having a hard time keeping the Palm Pre in stock and continues to have shortages. Sprint has even gone as far as to say that it claims not to have felt any impact from the new iPhone.

Sprint’s CFO Bob Brust said during a Webcast of an investor conference: “We still have a backlog of subscribers but it’s not unmanageable and we get shipments every week.”

Shipments are increasing every week, according to Brust, but that they’ll be short for awhile but are slowly catching up with demand, Reuters reported. He further added that Pre sales have not appeared to be affected by the new iPhone, which went on sale Friday.“We don’t see any big change since the iPhone came out yet. That may happen,” he said, promising a clearer update on Pre sales when Sprint reports second-quarter results next month. What concerns me about this statement is that these statements don't provide any useful statistics. Big changes can mean that the new iPhone isn't taking away a significant percentage of Sprint customers, at least to me, but there then again, its all smoke up in the air, as nothing measurable.
