Like everyone else I know, I had been following yesterday the hour by hour news about the latest application approved for the App Store. What makes this application so intriguing is that it's porn! The application, "Hottest Girls," features topless ladies that now seems acceptable under the latest app store parental ratings control. Although TechCrunch earlier reported that Apple had pulled the app, “Hottest Girls,” from its shelves, it now seems to not be the case.

Now TechCrunch is now reporting that it was the developers of "Hottest Girls" who removed the app, saying that it was concerned that it would crash their servers, and are simply considering it “sold out” for the time being. Because the page still remains in iTunes and you can’t buy it, that may be true, says TechCrunch. I searched for the application myself on iTunes, and can't seem to find it.

Whether or not the app has been removed, the parental controls definitely is an indicator of apps to come, particularly in the way of adult content. As an app developer myself, I know that if you submit apps that reach NR, then it automatically gets rejected from the app store, but with the 17+ (which Hottest Girls is in), it opens up a lot of possibilities, perhaps many applications that were previously rejected can now be resubmitted for approval. One thing to keep in mind is that iTunes does allow other explicit content, such as songs, webisdoes and podcasts, so it seems like only a matter of time.
